Idaho Falls Temple Trip

Idaho Falls Temple Trip

We had a long weekend this past week, so we took off to see the Idaho Falls Temple. We were origionally going to see the San Diego Temple, but there were many large fires in southern California, so we changed directions and headed for Idaho--Land of the Scone!!!!

Eric grew up in Idaho Falls but he had never been to this temple as an adult. Also, he had taken the kids on this trip to see where he grew up,but I had never been, so it was my turn! We saw the temple, and then Eric showed me his home town. Lots of memories there. Lots has changed, too. We had a visit with his Uncle Marvin and Aunt Rose Marie. Uncle Marvin is still cutting hair; he said he plans to retire when he is 93!

The next day we went up to see the Rexburg Temple. It is still under construction, but looks way cool sitting up on the hill! It opens in Jan 2008 I believe.

Elder William Springall

Bill is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile. He entered the mission field with much trepedation Jan 24, 2007. It was a big leap to leave the familiar surroundings of home, family and friends to talk to perfect strangers about the most personal of subjects, religion, and in a language you don't speak! But through faith in the Lord he was able to rise to the occasion! We are so proud of him. This picture is of Bill, his companion, and the first person he found, taught, and brought into the waters of baptism without having to move or change areas in the process. It was a special experience.

Seminary Journal

We team teach Early Morning Seminary. This is our third year. This year we have a wonderful class of freshmen. For the most part they are 14 turning 15 years old. We are amazed with their levels of spiritual awareness. This class holds a special talent for participation! (Sometimes lacking in students at 6 am in the morning!) Today we were discussing the importance of marriage in their future, and how decisions we make today can affect their lives in the future. Eric asked the question, "Can you see the wisdom in the standard the Prophet set forth for us not to date until we are 16?" We got many good answers, but our favorite was, "For one thing, the Lord is keeping us from looking like dorks! We can't drive, so can you just see it? 'My mom and I will be by to pick you up at 7!' I tried scrapbooking but it didn't work out!

I tried scrapbooking but it didn't work out!I didn't have the patience for it. I have started journals off and on throughout my life, but somehow I haven't kept up with them. I have felt the need to do some form of record keeping for my family history. I just viewed the blogsite of someone in my ward and grew to know her better than ever in just a few minutes, so I thought I might try this and see if it sticks! mitzi
